Talking the Talk
While the Camino is a vastly friendly and well traveled international route, do not assume that your native language will be broadly understood. A few words of Spanish(and French for at least a day or two) can always be helpful when trying to navigate day to day interactions.
Full fluency in Spanish is not necessary, but a little goes a long way.
Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, Babbel and the like offer language learning programs and apps that can easily give you the basics you need to navigate your Camino.
Check your local library and book stores for phrase books and investigate any language schools you may have in your area.
When in doubt remember that a smile and the willingness to at least try another person’s language can go a long way in smoothing the road.
